Roanuedhuru from Kolhumadulu Dhiyamigili
When I behold nature, I tend to ponder the unknown. When I dissect the past, I try to harvest the present.
Since childhood, I have been intrigued by the heavens above and the oceans beyond. Maybe they’re just in my head. But isn’t the mind everything?
Perhaps that’s why I often think I’m a daydreamer, a wishful thinker, an escapist. At times I may seem a little reserved, self-conscious, serious-looking. Generally, I tend to be humorous and large-hearted.
Despite my interest to become a jack of all trades, or a “raonuedhuru” in Dhivehi, many of my friends haven’t stopped likening me to that old adage “still water runs deep.”
The first son of a middle class family from the island of Dhiyamigili in the heart-shaped Kolhumadulu atoll located in the heart of the Maldives, I take pride in my family and the small community it belongs to. Did you know that the first Dhivehi dictionary written in Thaana was compiled during the reign of Sultan Ghiyasuddin, the last sultan of the Dhiyamigili Dynasty?
I draw inspiration from my family members, friends and colleagues. I’m blessed with caring parents, amazing siblings, a loving wife and one young boy.
Go ahead and dip into my brain!
